Tamiya OP.1993 Aluminum Damper Set Review | Essential Buggy Upgrade - Sagoru RC : The Art of Japanese Scale Models

Dampers are the most critical components for determining off-road buggy performance.

Today, I’m reviewing a high-performance option part from Tamiya.

Let’s explore the features of the “OP.1993 Aluminum Damper Set.”

Product Overview: OP.1993 Aluminum Damper Set

These dampers feature high-precision cylinders for ultra-smooth movement.

The machined aluminum construction ensures durability and minimizes oil leaks.

You can further enhance these dampers by swapping out the springs.

I highly recommend using the “OP.927 DF-03 Setting Spring Set.”

It allows you to choose from Soft, Medium, or Hard spring rates.

This provides finer control to match specific track conditions.

I compared the size with standard CVA dampers (Mini and Short types).

The Aluminum dampers are approximately 5.6mm longer than the CVA counterparts.

This extra length contributes to a better suspension stroke for off-road terrain.

Although intended for TT-02B/DF-03, these dampers are highly versatile.

Surprisingly, these are a direct fit for the “DT-04” chassis.

Tamiya’s official website even provides assembly instructions for the DT-04.

You can use parts from the Hornet evo for successful installation.

Note that the larger cylinder diameter may interfere with the body shell.

As shown in the photo, a small cut to the shell allows for full, smooth movement.
