To improve the running stability of Tamiya’s The Frog, I’ve upgraded the rear end.
This time, I performed a rear wide-tread conversion using parts from RC-ART.
Widening the rear track significantly improves cornering stability.
Parts Selection: RC-ART Rear Wide Hex Hub

These are designed for the Grasshopper series (specifically for OP-86 wheels).
They can also be successfully adapted to fit Tamiya’s The Frog.

The installation steps are very straightforward and beginner-friendly.

Installation and Security Trick

The rear track width is now noticeably wider.
Here, I added a small security trick to prevent potential running issues.

Using a zip tie ensures that the needle pin will never slip out during a run.
Comparison with Tamiya OP.913

Digital caliper measurements show an increase of approximately 11mm in track width.
This is a great option if you want an even wider stance than standard Tamiya options.
Final Assembly

The wider rear stance gives the buggy a much more aggressive and planted look.
I’m excited to see how this improves cornering performance on the track.
Conclusion
This RC-ART wide hex hub mod is an effective way to upgrade The Frog.
It provides an 11mm wider track with easy installation, boosting overall stability.
A simple yet powerful customization for vintage chassis fans!
