[Custom] DT-04 ESC Install Hack: Fit the 10BL120 G2 without changing your battery

Installing an ESC into the DT-04 chassis is always a space-saving challenge.

Usually, this requires switching to shorty LiPo packs to make room.

Here, I’ll share a simpler way to mount the ESC without large modifications.

ESC Selection and Fan Low-Profile Hack

This ESC is high-performing and one of my favorite units.

As a clever trick, I swapped out the cooling fan to save space.

The stock fan is 10mm tall, but swapping to a 7mm fan saves 3mm.

This small difference is crucial for clearing the body shell.

The manufacturer’s manual location conflicts with the switch bracket.

To solve this, I moved the receiver to the opposite side of the chassis.

Moving the ESC to the original receiver position provides ample clearance.

It’s a clean and effective relocation that keeps the center of gravity balanced.

Thanks to the low-profile fan, the cover snaps on without any binding.

This method avoids expensive battery pack changes.

I also swapped to the “QUICRUN 3652 G2” motor.

It’s a direct fit, making this a powerful and efficient brushless upgrade.

You can optimize the DT-04’s layout with a few smart adjustments.

This approach saves you the cost and hassle of replacing your batteries.
