Following my previous speed test with the DT-04, it was time for another challenge.
Today’s target is the legendary Tamiya Grasshopper.
Equipped with a high-power brushless motor, I aimed to break the speed ceiling.
Extreme Machine Specs

Here is the high-spec component list for this run:
- Motor: 5200Kv Brushless Motor (AliExpress)
- ESC: 120A ESC (AliExpress)
- Battery: 2S LiPo 7.4V 50C 4000mAh
- Pinion Gear: 18T
- Tires: Rib Spike (Front) / Hornet Rear Tires (Rear)
- Special Gear: GWS PG-03 PIEZO Gyro
Combining a 5200Kv motor with LiPo power is a recipe for wild speed.
I also installed a gyro to help tame the “wild horse” during high-speed runs.
Speed Attack at the Park
Full throttle in the park! Keeping it straight was a major challenge.
During the run, maintaining a straight line was incredibly difficult.
Despite the Piezo gyro, the car struggled with stability.
The combination of a lightweight chassis and extreme power is tricky to handle.
The Results: A New Record!

The final clocking was an impressive **44.3 km/h**!
This officially beats the DT-04’s record of 38.7 km/h.
Watching a Grasshopper hit these speeds was truly a sight to behold.
Conclusion & Future Potential
This record was achieved even with unstable straight-line handling.
There is a high chance the speed could increase with better tuning.
I feel that further suspension work is needed to handle this kind of power.
Stay tuned for more speed challenges with other classic machines!
