I finally took my completed Mighty Frog out for its maiden voyage!
In this post, I’ll report on the initial run and the results of the speed measurement at the park.
I was excited to see how this vintage classic performs with modern power sources.
Build Specs for the Run

Here are the key components used for this session:
- Motor: Tamiya Sport Tuned Motor
- ESC: HOBBYWING QuicRUN-WP-1060-Brushed
- Battery: LiPo 2S 7.4V 50C 4000mAh
- Gear Ratio: 6.7:1 (High Speed Setting)
This is a solid combo of a reliable Sport Tuned motor and punchy LiPo power.

The manual provides three gear ratio settings.
To maximize top speed, I selected the 19T pinion for the 6.7:1 ratio.
Park Run & Speed Results
Full throttle on the dirt! It’s mesmerizing to watch the unique suspension in motion.
I enjoyed some high-speed passes in the open area of the park.
Now, let’s look at the data from the GPS speedometer.

The maximum speed recorded was **32.3 km/h**!
The Sport Tuned motor provides smooth and consistent acceleration.
It was a truly nostalgic yet thrilling driving experience.
Conclusion & Future Plans
The maiden voyage was a great success without any issues.
While the current performance is great, I’m already craving more speed.
I plan to continue customizing this machine for even higher performance.
Stay tuned for the next chapter of the Mighty Frog build!
