With the front and rear suspension fully converted to aluminum, the next logical step is to reinforce the steering assembly. For this build, we’re swapping out the stock plastic components for aluminum parts to achieve a more direct and responsive feel. This is a crucial upgrade for sharp, precise handling.

The Two Key Aluminum Hop-Ups
We will be replacing two main components.
Option No.1 Aluminum Turnbuckles (PR-010)
We’ll use these as steering tie-rods. They not only increase rigidity but also allow for easy toe angle adjustment.

Eagle Racing AL Steering Crank for DT-04 (DT-04-02)
Also known as a bellcrank or steering wiper, this part is the heart of the steering mechanism. Upgrading it to aluminum is key to reducing slop.

The Installation Process
Here is the front end before the swap, showing the stock plastic steering wiper assembly.

And here is the front end after the upgrade. Both the steering crank and the tie-rods are now aluminum. This should eliminate flex and result in a much more precise steering action.

There are no clearance issues with the body installed. The black aluminum parts blend perfectly with the chassis, giving it a high-end, factory look.

Bonus: New Wheels and Tires
While we were at it, we decided to swap the wheels and tires for a different setup.
The new wheels are from the legendary Tamiya Egress, and for tires, we’ve mounted the classic Square Spike pattern.
- Wheels: For Egress (19335066)
- Tires: Square Spike Tires (Front: OP.88 / Rear: OP.84)
This combination should offer a whole new driving experience.

Conclusion
That’s all for this round of upgrades. With a more responsive steering system, this machine should be incredibly sharp on the track. We can’t wait to take it out for a run!
